LinkedIn’s New Focused Inbox Surfaces More Pertinent Messages

LinkedIn is upgrading its messaging experience with a new ‘Focused Inbox,’ which intends to minimize spam and surface area more relevant messages.

The next time you login to LinkedIn and open your inbox you’ll see an alert welcoming you to “Attempt Focused Inbox.”

Clicking on the button revealed above will automatically filter your messages into 2 tabs.

Focused Inbox utilizes AI to determine essential messages, which it filters into the ‘Focused’ tab while the rest are sent out to the ‘Other’ tab.

Thinking about there’s an AI component included it may take some time for LinkedIn to learn your inbox preferences.

You’ll have the choice to move messages between tabs, or revert back to the traditional messaging experience if you don’t enjoy the Focused Inbox.

LinkedIn is making this change in uptick in direct messaging, which the company states is up 20% compared to last year.

In an email, a LinkedIn representative states:

“This feature is the current in a series of improvements we’ve made to assist members have more efficient discussions and connect to chances through LinkedIn messaging. With discussions up nearly 20 percent since in 2015, we’re seeing more experts on LinkedIn are relying on messaging to link and engage with each other.”

LinkedIn’s Focused Inbox is now readily available around the world to all users.
